Your Feelings on Barbarians using shields.

[:1]The post by Flex on the main page got me to thinking. Should Barbs have shield skills? I would much rather see them only using 2handed and DW. I say leave the shield skills for another class.|||He'll be the big hitter for sure than!|||Of course he should use shields. He should at least have the ability to. Maybe not necessarily be decked out in shield skills, but he should have a little umph with it.|||I think that the Diablo-style barbarian represents themes that include ferocity, nobility, and discipline. There are the traditional elements of "frenzy" and "face crushing," but a precedent has also been set for discipline and control. In Diablo 2, barbarians wield numerous weapons and have defense-increasing skills. Defense-oriented builds become available. Shields were critical. However, I can understand if Blizzard wanted to stylize the barbarian as more of a barbarian. It could also be argued that non-concentration skills were natural defenses.

Ultimately, I would like shields to remain accessible to barbarians. There is some storyline support for them, and I enjoy having a variety of play-style options. I would like the opportunity to play a more defense-oriented barbarian or a S/S-style barbarian.|||I Have Felled more than I can count.|||Quote:

I agree that there is precedent for them to have shield skills due to the way Blizzard has presented the Barbarians in D2. I just feel by adding strong shield skills to the Barbs they will have less of a reason to make another class that uses shields.|||It seems to me barbarians using shields is really only need for bosses and top tier mobs to lessen damage taken as they fight. The only shield skills they should have IMO is charge the Shield Bash as I found then fun. Thats just me though

yeah but if they don't have a weapon switch button its not like your going to be able to swap from doing big damage with a 2hander to sword&board on the fly.|||Quote:

Thats one reason to bring that system back, i cant believe they removed it in the first place.
