Ideas on what runes will do for barb - Page 3

Hydra/Multistrike + Hammer of Ancients = Splash damage from the impact, as well as maybe % chance of 1-2 seconds of stun.|||Cleave with multistrike if dualwielding you would cleave with both weapons. If 2h or 1 weapon you cleave 2 times.|||http://diablo3x.com/diablo-3-runes-s...tions-revealed

i found out this and might give some answere.|||i first wondered if every skill would be compatible with every rune. also because the barb's theme of having pure physical aspects to his skills makes it difficult to come up with runes that are not repetitive across all the skills. having said that:

multistrike rune with hammer of ancients = i think would like the skeleton's mace swing where multiple image of the hammer come out making it harder to dodge (pvp) and damaging multiple enemies (pve)

multistrike + furious charge = furious charge has a clap of energy at its terminus. perhaps this clap of energy can happen several times during it's travel.

multistrike + whirlwind = like someone says creates 1 or 2 smaller whirlwinds but instead of just being whirlwinds its mirror images of your weapon flying about causing damage as well.

multistrike + frenzy = each hit does splash damage (this is actually what i was hoping for in LOD)

multristrike + leap = rolling barbarian of doom! man that guy that came up with that idea kudos!

multistrike + shockwave = multiple shockwaves? not super creative but it works

multistrike + warstomp = creates multiple stomps since this skill does seem to have a cooldown.

lethality rune seems to create an effect when it kills something. like electrocute's lethality caused lightning novas once a mob died. and i believe it is different than a power rune. that being said that possibilities would be great. exploding corpses that do damage, flying corpses that do damage, or infusing your weapon to...do extra...damage?

whirlwind + lethality = corpses are flung out and do damage wherever they land

furious charge + lethality = corpses explode causing damage

hammer of ancients + lethality = corpse is nailed into the ground causing a grimward type effect.

power runes seem to just either add more damage or add an aspect that created more damage in some form. like skull of flame's damage was increased by this rune since it left a patch of fire.

power rune + warstomp = bigger radius

power + whirlwind = bigger radius

power + furious charge = guess what? BIGGER RADIUS

power + hammer of ancients = BIGGER RADIUS j/k extra crit

power + frenzy = i want to say knockback which i think would be really cool cause it would allow a swarmed barbarian to separate a mob and use his speed boost to bounce back and forth between enemies. and usually with knockback there is a bit of stun.|||This is a fun idea. Let's look at the Berserker Skill Tree. Here are the skills in that tree listed as having a rune slot in the Wiki.

Berserker Skill Tree

Tier 1

Frenzy When attacking with Frenzy, the Barbarian's weapon damage and attack speed are increased. Frenzy can be used repeatedly, stacking the speed bonus up to three times

Tier 2

Threatening Shout Shout with great ferocity, reducing damage done by enemies within 24 feet by 60% for 15 seconds

Double Strike Grants a dual wielding Barbarian the chance to strike nearby enemies with both weapons

Tier 3

Leap Attack The Barbarian makes a mighty leap, causing ? damage to enemies when he lands.

Damage of Leap Attack increases with strength

I'll work on the others later...|||Quote:

Leap + Multistrike/Hydra = the barb sommersaults instead of regular leap and besides the initial impact he will roll a little in the leap direction and cause tremendous damage to the ones in his way. Barb ball of death!

Oh hellsss yea. I really like this idea. I'd love it if the runes added extra "moves". It really pushes the idea of the barb as a master of physical combat. It also gives the barb a little more visual flash to keep up with all the wizard/witch doctor fireworks.

The "tornadoes flying off a ww'ing barb" is also another creative idea.

I'll be a little disappointed if the runes just add an AOE element or stun for the barb's skills, I know Blizzard is more creative then that.
