About Whirlwind

[:1]Do we know if Whirlwind can be used as your primary (only?) offense and fuel itself infinitely (as with mana steal in D2)?|||Yes it can. With good weapons and even just a small amount of leech, the only thing that will run you out of mana is mana burn.|||I'm sure it could be your only attack and you could succeed, but I doubt they way they are expanding the encounters that it will the most effective play style. Personally I'm not sure it would be very fun either. I think it would be better to have at least one heavy nuke ability (like Hammer of the Ancients) for single targets or a boss fight might last twice as long as it needs to.|||Hmmmm... maybe I should pay attention to the fact that this was in the D3 forum and not the D2 forum

Grube is right, D3 is going to be more about using multiple skills I think, not just a single powerful one.|||On that note, see the thread im about to post in General on Skill Swapping, as I have a question related to this :P|||I'll meet you there, and I'll be sure to bring all of my misinformation with me |||I dont think anyone really knows the exact answer to this yet.|||I expect WW to be viable as burst AoE to deal with swarms of enemies... I doubt that WW'ing a boss to death will be particularly effective at inferno levels.|||There has to be at least a quick cooldown on it. Maybe 2 or 3 seconds long after you are done spinning. I know blizzard has stated they want you to use your lower level 'filler' skills in between the big-bad awesome ones, so thats the only reason I would suspect a short CD.|||It could be used multiple times in a row granted you get hit and that would generate more fury ( in a boss fight for example). Sure if it has a cooldown then that gets thrown out the window.

Boring but powerful Barb build

[:1]Basically this build uses a few core passives

Unforgiving: Fury does not degenerate any longer. Furthermore, the Barbarian gains 1 Fury every 5 seconds

Berserker rage: increases damage dealt by 20% when the Barbarian's fury is at 100%

Slaughter (level 28): increases damage dealt by 20% when the Barbarian's fury is at its maximum. (This could be the same skill as berserker rage)

Relentless: when the Barbarian is under 20% HP, skills do not cost any fury and damage (TL's Note: dealt or taken?) is reduced by 50%

The idea is that you just attack normally doing your +20% or +40% damage but once your health is below 20% you can chain as many resource hungry skills as you want without needing the fury.

To make it a bit safer you could add

Insane courage (level 31): When the Barbarian has under 35% HP, damage taken is reduced by 30%

To sum up +20-40% damage

80% Damage reduction when low on health (If the DR Stacks)

Unlimited fury use when at low health

This whole build would be so boring though. I mean why have a passive that requires you to not use your skills. I guess it means you can fill your skill slots with uber powerful cool down skills. Hmm could be a bomb in PVP.|||You'll be playing on the brink, using low-fury skills while your HP gets worn down, then at the last moment you'll unleash $*@#ing destruction on everything when your HP reaches 20% and you fury bar is full. At the same an ill-timed CC or damage spike could end your life...

Boring? This build sounds exciting.|||Well boring till you get to 20%|||I can see it all now... "Don't pick up that health globe!"

Build sounds fun though |||Sound just like nerd rage in fallout :P looks interesting!|||I agree I feel like that barb is going to be the character that needs to develop its skills before it really becomes fun!
